Zaatar Pita Pizza
Use pita or naan bread.
Zaatar pita pizza. While the tortillas are baking fry the shallots in a little oil on medium high heat until crispy. Manakish zaatar is a traditional lebanese variety of pita bread spiced with zaatar. Cook until the edges start to brown for about 10 minutes. Serve with vegan yogurt and chopped parsley on top.
Bake in an oven at 400 degrees until the top turns golden and a bit crispy for a delicious and savory finger food. But even if it is a little on the crunchy side it will still take spectacular with the za atar seasoning sprinkled on top. Apply the blend on the tortillas or thin crust pita breads with a pastry brush. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees f 205 c.
This middle eastern delicacy is similar to a pizza made of soft pita base topped with zaatar spice mix. But be forewarned keep an extra close eye on it when it s baking. But why not add more delicious mediterranean flavors to that za atar bread. Zaatar spice mix is a slightly sour spice which is a mixture of sumac berries dried and powdered thyme oregano sesame seeds and some salt.
Mix olive oil and za atar together and spread on top of the bread. Spread 1 2 tablespoons of zaatar over each flattened dough circle but leave some space for the margins. The key to a pita base pizza is to cook it until it is toasty brown. Bake for 3 4 minutes.
